Key Objectives

Aims and Objectives 2011 - 2013

Our focus during this period will be the improvement of playing fields, the facilities and equipment in order that usage of these fields increases.   Specifically we want playing fields to become more relevant for younger people and more accessible for those with disabilities.  We need to update the image of Playing Fields and dispel the perception that they are stuck in a time warp around the 1960s!

1. To further develop the role of Field Officer in order that the Association can provide further practical assistance to our members (ie local councils and sports clubs) particularly in the areas of pitch maintenance and safety (eg playground equipment).

2. To build upon the success of the Best Kept Playing Fields Competition by increasing the number of entries to 150 by 2013 and by using this well established event as a means of raising overall standards.

3. To use our Small Grants Fund to encourage councils and clubs to improve the quality and variety of the facilities which they offer.  The grant we can provide is relatively small but is intended in many cases to ‘kick start’ the project.  The value of the scheme is often in the advice and direction which EPFA can offer because of its contacts and experience.   The aim is to promote at least 5 projects each year.

4. To encourage greater usage of playing fields by continuing to promote a schools cricket tournament together with ECCC.  This to take place each year in a different part of the county.

5. To increase our membership by 25% by 2013.  Within this figure we will aim to gain more corporate and individual members.

6. To continue to run training seminars and in general to enhance training opportunities for our members and volunteers.

7. To establish stronger links with appropriate associations in Essex and the region.

8. Finally, but crucially, to establish channels through which regular funding can be obtained in order that our scarce resource is not diverted to constant efforts to find funds on a ‘one-off’ basis.
